If you're looking to make a sock monkey, you'll want socks that are soft, stretchy, and easy to sew. Classic crew socks with a heel and toe design are popular because they create the monkey's face and limbs. Look for socks made from cotton or a cotton blend for durability and comfort. Fun patterns or solid colors can add personality to your sock monkey. At Walmart, you'll find a variety of crew socks in different sizes and styles, so you can pick what fits your creative vision best.

To craft a traditional sock monkey, you'll generally need two socks. One sock forms the body and legs, while the second is used for the arms, tail, and face. If you're making a larger monkey or want extra details, you might use additional socks for accessories or embellishments. Make sure both socks are similar in size and material for a consistent look. Walmart offers multipacks, so you can easily get enough socks for your project.

There isn't a specific brand dedicated solely to sock monkey socks. Most sock monkeys are made from standard crew socks, which you can find in many brands at Walmart. The key is to choose socks with the right texture, color, and durability for your craft. Whether you prefer classic patterns or novelty prints, Walmart's wide selection lets you pick socks that match your style and project needs.

Original sock monkeys, especially vintage ones made from classic red-heeled socks, can be considered collectibles by some enthusiasts. Their value often depends on age, condition, and uniqueness. While Walmart offers new socks for crafting your own, if you're interested in vintage sock monkeys, it's a good idea to research collectible markets or consult with collectors for more information. Keep in mind that handmade sock monkeys can also be cherished keepsakes.

Choosing the right size sock depends on how big you'd like your sock monkey to be. For a standard-sized monkey, adult crew socks work well. If you're making a smaller version, kids' crew socks are a great choice. Check the sock's length and stretch to ensure it's easy to work with. Walmart's selection includes socks for all ages, so you can find the perfect fit for your craft project.
