Snap traps are a popular choice for catching rodents like mice and rats. They use a spring-loaded mechanism that quickly closes when triggered, helping to contain pests. Many people find them effective for small infestations, especially when placed in areas where rodent activity is noticed. For best results, it's important to use the right bait and check traps regularly. Keep in mind, results can vary depending on placement, rodent behavior, and the type of trap used.

Rats are known to avoid strong scents such as peppermint, ammonia, and certain essential oils. However, relying solely on smells may not prevent an infestation. Combining scent deterrents with snap traps can help manage rodents more effectively. Always use caution with strong-smelling substances, especially around pets and children, and follow product instructions for safe use.

Mice are typically nocturnal and tend to avoid direct contact with humans. However, if food or nesting materials are accessible, they might venture into bedrooms or living spaces, even when people are present. To help reduce the chance of mice entering sleeping areas, keep food sealed, clean up crumbs, and use snap traps in places where you've seen signs of activity.

Setting up a snap trap safely involves a few key steps:

• Place the trap along walls or in corners where rodents travel.
• Use gloves to avoid transferring your scent to the trap.
• Bait the trap with a small amount of peanut butter or another attractant.
• Carefully set the trap according to the instructions, keeping fingers clear of the snapping mechanism.
• Check traps daily and dispose of rodents using gloves for hygiene.

Always keep traps out of reach of children and pets.

Many snap traps are designed to be reusable after cleaning. To reuse, wear gloves and wash the trap with warm, soapy water, then let it dry completely before resetting. Reusing traps can be cost-effective and helps reduce waste. Always handle used traps with care and follow any cleaning instructions provided by the manufacturer for safety and best results.
