Choosing a desktop for home use depends on your daily needs. If you mainly browse the web, stream videos, or handle documents, a system with a reliable processor, at least 8GB RAM, and a solid-state drive (SSD) can offer smooth performance. For gaming or creative work, look for desktops with dedicated graphics cards and higher RAM. Consider features like built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and the number of USB ports for connecting devices. Think about your available space—compact or all-in-one models can help save room. Reading product descriptions and customer reviews on Walmart.com can also help you decide.

All-in-one PCs combine the monitor and computer components into a single unit, which helps save desk space and reduces cable clutter. They’re great for a clean, minimalist setup. Tower PCs (also called desktops) have separate monitors and towers, offering more flexibility for upgrades and repairs. Towers often have more ports and expansion options, making them a good choice if you plan to add extra storage or upgrade parts in the future. Your choice depends on your space, style preferences, and how much you want to customize your system.

Many desktop PCs allow you to upgrade RAM or storage, but it depends on the model. Tower desktops usually offer easier access to internal components, making upgrades more straightforward. All-in-one and mini PCs may have limited upgrade options due to their compact design. Before purchasing, check the product details or user manual for information about upgradability. If you’re unsure, you can also reach out to Walmart’s customer support for guidance on specific models and their upgrade potential.

Setting up a new desktop is usually simple.

1. Unpack all components and place them on a flat surface.
2. Connect the monitor, keyboard, and mouse to the desktop using the provided cables.
3. Plug in the power cords and turn on the devices.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the initial setup, including connecting to Wi-Fi and creating user accounts.

If your desktop isn’t powering up, try these steps:

• Check that all power cables are securely connected to both the PC and the outlet.
• Ensure the power outlet is working by testing it with another device.
• Look for any lights or sounds from the PC that might indicate it’s receiving power.
• If you’re using a power strip, make sure it’s switched on.
