Choosing a bathroom scale depends on your needs and preferences. Here are a few things to consider:

• Weight capacity: Check the maximum weight limit to ensure it fits your requirements.
• Display type: Some scales have large LCD screens or talking features for easier reading.
• Extra features: Look for options like Bluetooth connectivity, body composition tracking, or external displays if you want more than just weight measurement.
• Platform size: Extra-wide or extendable platforms can offer more comfort and stability.

Most bathroom scales work best on hard, flat surfaces like tile or wood. Using a scale on carpet can affect accuracy because the soft surface may cause uneven weight distribution. If you need to use a scale on carpet, look for models with a special carpet-friendly base or check the product description for compatibility. For the most reliable results, place your scale on a solid, level floor.

Keeping your digital scale clean helps maintain its accuracy and appearance. Here’s how you can do it safely:

• Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the surface. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the finish or display.
• Make sure the scale is turned off and, if possible, remove the batteries before cleaning.
• Dry the scale thoroughly before using it again to prevent moisture from affecting the sensors.

Always follow the care instructions included with your specific scale for best results.

"NTEP certified" means a scale has been evaluated by the National Type Evaluation Program for accuracy and reliability in commercial use. This certification is important if you need a scale for legal-for-trade applications, like medical offices or businesses. For home use, NTEP certification isn’t usually required, but it can offer extra peace of mind about the scale’s performance. Always check the product details to see if a scale is NTEP certified if that’s important for your needs.

Most bathroom and body weight scales use batteries, often standard types like AAA or CR2032 coin cells. Some models may include batteries in the package, while others require you to purchase them separately. Very few home scales use power cords. Always check the product description for power requirements and battery type, so you’re prepared when your scale arrives.
