Setting up a mouse trap is pretty straightforward, but a few tips can help.

• First, place the trap along walls or in areas where you've noticed mouse activity, since mice tend to travel close to walls.
• For snap traps, carefully pull back the spring and secure the bait pedal as directed in the instructions.
• For glue traps, just remove the protective paper and lay the board flat.
• Always keep traps out of reach of children and pets for safety.

Check the traps regularly and dispose of them according to the packaging instructions.

Choosing the right bait can make a big difference.

• Peanut butter is a popular choice because it's sticky and mice are attracted to its scent.
• Other options include small pieces of chocolate, oatmeal, or seeds.
• For glue traps, bait isn't always necessary, but adding a small food lure can help attract mice.

Try to use just a small amount so the mouse has to interact with the trap. Always wash your hands after handling bait and traps.

Placement is key for catching mice effectively.

• Put traps along walls, behind appliances, or in dark corners where you've seen droppings or signs of activity.
• Space traps about 6 to 10 feet apart in problem areas.
• For larger spaces, use multiple traps to increase your chances.

Be sure to avoid placing traps where kids or pets might accidentally touch them. Regularly check and move traps if you’re not seeing results after a few days.

Disposing of a used mouse trap is simple but should be done with care.

• Wear disposable gloves to avoid direct contact.
• For glue or snap traps, place the entire trap and any contents in a sealed plastic bag.
• Dispose of the bag in your outdoor trash bin.

Wash your hands thoroughly afterward. Always follow the disposal instructions on the trap’s packaging for the safest results.

Whether you can reuse a mouse trap depends on the type.

• Snap traps and some covered traps can often be reused if cleaned properly after each use.
• Glue traps are typically single-use and should be discarded after catching a mouse or if they become dirty.

Always check the manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning and reuse guidelines. If you prefer a no-touch option, consider traps designed for easy disposal.
