Mainstays sheets come in a variety of thread counts, with many popular options featuring a 300 thread count. You'll also find selections in the 220 thread count range and other blends. Thread count refers to the number of threads woven into one square inch of fabric, and it can influence the feel and durability of your sheets. When browsing Mainstays bedding at Walmart, check the product description for the exact thread count to find the comfort level you prefer.

Not necessarily! While a higher thread count can mean a smoother or denser fabric, it doesn't always guarantee better quality or comfort.

• Sheets in the 200–400 thread count range are often soft, breathable, and durable.
• Very high thread counts (like 600 or 1000) can sometimes feel heavier or less breathable, depending on the material and weave.

A 300 thread count sheet is typically lightweight, crisp, and breathable—great for everyday comfort. Sheets with 600 or 1000 thread counts are usually denser and may feel heavier or silkier.

• 300 thread count: Cool and airy, easy to care for.
• 600–1000 thread count: Smoother and heavier, but may trap more heat.

Both 250 and 500 thread count sheets can be comfortable for everyday use, but they offer different experiences.

• 250 thread count: Generally lighter and more breathable, which can be ideal for warmer climates or hot sleepers.
• 500 thread count: Feels a bit denser and may offer a smoother surface, but can be warmer.

Yes, both thread count and fabric type play a role in how sheets feel and perform.

• Thread count affects the density and texture of the sheet.
• Fabric type—like cotton, cotton blends, or microfiber—impacts softness, breathability, and care instructions.
