A magnetizer is a handy tool that adds magnetic properties to your screwdriver tips. This means screws will stick to the tip, making it much easier to pick up, hold, and drive screws—especially in tight or hard-to-reach spots. Magnetized tips can help reduce dropped screws and make assembly jobs smoother. If you ever need to remove the magnetism, many magnetizers also have a demagnetizer function, so you can switch back and forth as needed for different tasks.

Using a magnetizer or demagnetizer is simple and quick:

1. To magnetize, insert the screwdriver tip into the marked 'magnetize' slot and move it back and forth a few times.
2. To demagnetize, use the 'demagnetize' slot and repeat the same motion.

This process works for most hand tools with steel tips. Always follow the instructions included with your tool for best results. Magnetizing can help with holding screws, while demagnetizing is useful when you don't want metal shavings or screws sticking to your tool.

Yes, many magnetizer/demagnetizer tools work on a variety of small steel tools, not just screwdrivers.

• Common items include tweezers, small pliers, and drill bits.
• Magnetizing these tools can help with picking up tiny screws or parts during repairs or assembly.

Demagnetizing a screwdriver can be helpful in situations where you don't want metal shavings or small screws sticking to the tip. For example:

• Working near sensitive electronics where stray magnetic fields could cause issues
• Preventing accidental pickup of unwanted metal debris

Demagnetizing is a quick process and can help keep your workspace cleaner and your tools working the way you need for each specific job.

Most magnetizers are designed to work with standard steel screwdriver tips, including both Phillips and flat head styles. However, they may not be effective on tools made from non-magnetic materials, such as some stainless steels or specialty alloys. For best results, check your screwdriver's material and refer to the magnetizer's instructions. If your tool is magnetic, you should notice improved screw retention after using a magnetizer.
