A "cami" is short for camisole, a lightweight, sleeveless top typically featuring thin straps. Camis are designed for layering under shirts, sweaters, or jackets, but you can also wear them on their own for a simple, comfortable look. They come in various lengths, including long camis, which offer extra coverage and versatility. You’ll find camis made from materials like cotton, spandex blends, or moisture-wicking fabrics, making them great for everyday wear, workouts, or as shapewear. Their simple design makes them a staple in many wardrobes, offering both comfort and style.

While camis and tank tops might look similar, there are a few key differences:

• Straps: Camis usually have thin, spaghetti straps, while tank tops often feature wider straps.
• Purpose: Camis are often used as layering pieces or undergarments, whereas tank tops are commonly worn as standalone tops.
• Fit and Fabric: Camis may offer a closer fit and sometimes include features like built-in bras or shapewear, while tanks are typically more casual and come in a variety of fits.

Both are versatile, but your choice depends on your style and how you plan to wear them.

Many people choose to wear a cami over a bra for added comfort, coverage, or layering. Some camisoles come with built-in bras, which can provide light support and eliminate the need for a separate bra. If your cami doesn’t have built-in support, wearing a bra underneath can help you feel more secure, especially with thinner or lighter fabrics. Ultimately, it’s about what feels best for you and the look you’re going for—there’s no single right way to wear a cami.

Camis serve several purposes in a wardrobe:

• Layering: They create a smooth base under sheer or low-cut tops.
• Comfort: Soft fabrics help reduce irritation from other clothing.
• Shapewear: Some camis offer shaping or tummy control for a streamlined look.
• Versatility: Long camis can double as sleepwear, loungewear, or workout tops.

Whether you need extra coverage, a layering piece, or a comfortable top, camis are a practical and stylish choice.

Choosing the right size long cami is all about comfort and fit. Here are some tips:

• Check the size chart for each product, as sizing can vary by brand and style.
• Consider how you’ll wear it—if you want a snug fit for layering or shapewear, stick to your usual size. For a looser fit, you might size up.
• Look for adjustable straps, which help customize the fit to your body.
• Read product descriptions for details on stretch and fabric type.
