A line lock is a device that temporarily holds brake pressure in your vehicle's brake lines. It's commonly used in drag racing to keep the front brakes engaged while allowing the rear wheels to spin freely, making it easier to perform a burnout. Some drivers also use line locks as a hill holder to prevent rolling backward on inclines.

• Helps with controlled launches at the track
• Can assist with vehicle security in certain situations
• Not a substitute for your parking brake

Installing a brake line lock kit usually involves connecting the device to your vehicle's brake lines and wiring it to a switch inside the cabin.

1. Start by reading the instructions included with your kit.
2. Gather the necessary tools, like wrenches and brake fluid.
3. Safely lift and secure your vehicle before working on the brakes.
4. Follow the wiring diagram for proper electrical connections.
5. After installation, bleed the brakes to remove any air.

Some line lock kits can act as a temporary hill holder by keeping brake pressure applied while you're stopped on an incline. However, they're not designed to replace your vehicle's parking brake. For long-term parking or when leaving your car unattended, always use your standard parking brake. Line locks are best used for short-term holding, such as during a hill start or at the track. Always check your vehicle's manual and the product instructions for proper use.

The legality of line locks for street use can vary depending on local laws and regulations.

• In many areas, line locks are intended for off-road or racing use only.
• Some regions may restrict their use on public roads.
• It's important to check with your local Department of Motor Vehicles or relevant authority before installing or using a line lock on the street.

To keep your line lock working smoothly, regular maintenance is key.

• Check for leaks in the brake lines and around the device.
• Inspect electrical connections for corrosion or loose wires.
• Test the switch and solenoid function periodically.
• If you notice reduced performance, re-bleed the brakes to remove air.
