Choosing a leaf rake depends on your yard size and the type of debris you're dealing with.

• Head width: Wider heads cover more ground, making them ideal for large lawns, while smaller heads are great for tight spaces or shrub beds.
• Handle length: Adjustable handles can help you reach farther and reduce bending.
• Material: Metal rakes are durable for heavy-duty jobs, while plastic or poly rakes are lightweight and easy to use for lighter tasks.

Consider your comfort and the rake's intended use to find the best fit for your yard work.

To get the most out of your leaf rake, start by raking leaves in one direction to form manageable piles.

• Hold the rake with both hands and use a gentle, sweeping motion.
• Work in sections to avoid fatigue.
• For wet or heavy leaves, use a rake with sturdy tines.

If your rake has an adjustable head, expand it for wide areas and narrow it for corners or under shrubs. Always rake on dry days for easier cleanup and less strain on your rake.

Leaf rakes are versatile tools that can handle more than just leaves.

• Use them to gather grass clippings after mowing.
• They’re handy for picking up light debris like twigs or pine needles.
• Some models can help with dethatching lawns or spreading mulch.

For heavier materials like gravel or soil, look for rakes designed specifically for those tasks. Always check the rake’s construction to make sure it’s suitable for your intended use.

Keeping your leaf rake in good shape is easy.

• After each use, shake off any debris and rinse the head with water if needed.
• Dry the rake thoroughly to prevent rust, especially if it’s metal.
• Store it in a dry place, preferably hanging to avoid bending the tines.

Regular cleaning and proper storage can help extend the life of your rake and keep it ready for your next yard project.

Many leaf rakes have replaceable parts, such as handles or heads.

• Check the product details or packaging for compatibility information.
• Replacement handles and tines are often available in the garden tools section.
• If you need a specific part, you can browse Walmart’s selection online or ask in-store for assistance.

Keeping your rake in working order can save you money and reduce waste, so it’s worth checking for available parts before replacing the whole tool.
