It’s doable, and pretty simple once you know your connector type.

1. Check compatibility: iPhone 15 and newer use USB‑C. Earlier models use Lightning. Pick a drive that matches your phone (some have dual connectors).
2. Plug in: Remove a bulky case if it blocks the port, then connect the drive.
3. USB‑C models: Open the Files app > Browse. Your drive may appear under “Locations.”
4. Lightning models: Many drives use a companion app. If prompted, install it and grant permissions.
5. Move files: Copy or back up photos, videos, and documents using Files or the drive’s app.
6. Format tips: For cross‑platform use, exFAT is commonly supported. Results can vary by device and drive.

Allow transfers to finish before unplugging to help prevent data errors.

You’ve got a couple of easy options depending on your connector.

1. Connect the drive: USB‑C for newer iPhones, Lightning for earlier ones. Remove a tight case if needed.
2. Using USB‑C (Files app): Open Photos > Select images > Share > Save to Files > Choose your flash drive > Save.
3. Using Lightning (companion app): Open the drive’s app and look for Backup/Import. Grant access to Photos when asked.
4. Organize: Create folders on the drive first to keep trips, events, or projects separate.
5. Verify copies: Spot‑check a few photos on the drive before deleting anything from your phone.

Backup behavior can vary by app and iOS version, so follow any on‑screen prompts during the first transfer.

Choose based on how you’ll use it, then compare key details.

• Connector: USB‑C for the newest iPhones; Lightning for earlier models. Dual or 3‑in‑1 drives help with cross‑device use.
• Storage size: 64GB for casual backups, 128–256GB+ for large photo libraries or 4K video.
• Speed: Look for USB 3.x and posted read/write speeds if you move big files often.
• App experience: Some drives offer one‑tap photo/video backup and direct media playback.
• Security: Options like password protection or encryption can add peace of mind.
• Build & design: Case‑friendly connectors, swivel caps, and lanyards help with everyday carry.

Most iPhone flash drives are designed for multiple devices, but compatibility varies.

• iPad (USB‑C): Many drives appear in the Files app under “Locations,” similar to USB‑C iPhones.
• iPad (Lightning): Many Lightning drives use a companion app for browsing and backup.
• Mac/Windows: Use the USB‑A or USB‑C side to plug in and drag files like any external drive.
• Android: If your phone/tablet has USB‑C and supports OTG, many dual‑connector drives can transfer files.
• File system: For broad compatibility, exFAT is commonly used. Back up data before reformatting.

Always review the product description for supported devices and any app requirements.

A few quick checks can often get things working.

• Confirm the connector: Make sure you’re using USB‑C on newer models or Lightning on earlier ones.
• Remove the case: A tight or thick case can prevent a solid connection.
• Install the app: Many Lightning‑based drives need their companion app and permissions.
• Check the Files app: For USB‑C, look in Files > Browse > “Locations.” Tap “More” to enable the drive if available.
• Update software: Update your phone’s OS and, if applicable, the drive’s app.
• Test and format: Try the drive on a computer. If needed, back up and reformat to exFAT for broader compatibility.
• Restart and retry: Restart the phone and reconnect. If issues persist, check the product page for support options.
