Yes, a hex key and an Allen key refer to the same tool. Both are used to drive bolts and screws with hexagonal sockets. The term "Allen key" comes from a popular brand, while "hex key" describes the tool's shape and function. You'll find these tools in various sizes, often bundled in sets or attached to key rings for convenience. They're handy for furniture assembly, bicycle repairs, and many DIY projects. The circular piece that holds keys together on a keychain is commonly called a split ring or key ring. It's designed to securely attach keys, hex keys, or small tools, making them easy to carry and organize. Many hex key sets available at Walmart feature these rings, so you can keep your tools handy and prevent them from getting lost. Split rings are durable and come in various sizes to fit different types of keys and accessories.

A bolt that requires a hex key for tightening or loosening is usually called a hex socket bolt or Allen bolt. These bolts have a hexagonal recess in the head, allowing you to use a hex key or Allen wrench for installation. They're commonly found in furniture, machinery, and door hardware. If you're looking for hex key rings at Walmart, they're often used with these types of bolts for quick access and convenience during repairs or assembly.

For adjusting a Floyd Rose guitar bridge, the most common Allen key size needed is 3mm or 1/8 inch, depending on the specific model. It's always best to check your instrument's manual or consult the manufacturer to confirm the exact size. Many hex key ring sets at Walmart include a range of sizes, so you'll have the right tool on hand for guitar maintenance and other tasks. Keeping a keychain hex key set makes it easy to access the correct size when you need it.

Hex key rings are often used to operate push bar exit devices, commonly found on commercial doors. To use them:

• Identify the correct hex key size for your exit device (usually listed in the device manual).
• Insert the hex key into the dogging mechanism on the push bar.
• Turn the key to engage or disengage the mechanism, which keeps the door open or allows it to close.

Hex key rings make it easy to carry multiple sizes, ensuring you're prepared for different devices. Always follow manufacturer instructions for safe operation.
