Choosing the right hat size usually starts with measuring your head circumference. Use a soft tape measure and wrap it comfortably around your forehead, just above your ears. Check the sizing info provided for each hat type, as sizing can vary. Some hats are adjustable or stretchy, making them fit a wider range of sizes. Trying hats on or checking reviews can help if you're shopping online. When in doubt, opt for hats with adjustable features to help with fit and comfort.

• Soft hats: Most beanies and caps can be gently hand-washed using mild detergent and cool water. Avoid harsh scrubbing.
• Structured hats: Spot-clean cowboy and wide-brim hats with a damp cloth, gently wiping away dirt.
• Drying: Air drying is preferred—don’t use a dryer, as heat can damage shape and materials.

Always check the care label if available. For hats with embellishments, extra care may be needed; gently spot-clean without soaking the decorative parts.

If your hat feels snug, some hats can be stretched using tools like a hat stretcher, which gradually widens the band. Wooden stretchers designed for hats are helpful for fitted styles. For beanies or soft hats, carefully stretching by hand may make them slightly looser, but always avoid forceful tugging. Overstretching can sometimes distort the shape, so go slow and check the fit frequently. Always follow any specific instructions provided with the stretching tool or on the product tags.

• Many hats are designed for outdoor use, like wide-brim hats for sun protection, fishing hats with cooling features, and beanies for warmth.
• Some hats include details such as UPF ratings, built-in fans, or foldable designs to help with comfort and versatility while hiking, fishing, or attending events.

Look for materials and features that suit your planned activity—for example, moisture-wicking fabric for hiking or sun hats with full coverage for summer outings.

To keep hats looking their best, store structured hats (like cowboy or wide-brim styles) on a flat surface or on a hat rack to help maintain their shape. Avoid stacking or crushing them. Soft hats, like beanies or turbans, can be folded and placed in a drawer or on a shelf. Try to store hats away from direct sunlight and moisture, as both can cause fading or shrinking. If your hat comes with a box or dust bag, these can provide extra protection.
