Easter egg trees have roots in European traditions, especially in Germany and Austria. Families would decorate small branches or trees with colorful eggs to celebrate spring and new beginnings. Over time, this festive display became a symbol of hope and renewal, making it a popular centerpiece for Easter celebrations. Today, you’ll find both artificial and natural Easter egg trees used as cheerful home decor, bringing a playful, seasonal touch to tables, mantels, or entryways. Whether you’re continuing a family tradition or starting a new one, decorating an Easter egg tree can be a fun way to welcome the season.

1. Choose your base: Pick a small artificial tree, a bunch of bare branches, or a pre-lit tree for extra sparkle.
2. Secure the branches: Place them in a sturdy vase or pot. You can add pebbles or floral foam to keep them steady.
3. Decorate: Hang lightweight plastic or foam eggs using ribbon or hooks. Mix in flowers, bunnies, or other spring ornaments for extra flair.
4. Display: Set your Easter egg tree on a table, mantel, or entryway for a festive look.

Get creative with colors and textures to match your style!

For a DIY Easter egg tree, look for branches with lots of smaller twigs—willow, birch, or forsythia are popular choices because they’re sturdy and have plenty of spots to hang ornaments. If you prefer a ready-made option, artificial birch or tinsel trees are lightweight and designed to hold decorative eggs. Tabletop versions are great for smaller spaces, while taller artificial trees can make a statement in entryways or living rooms. The key is to pick something with enough branches to show off your eggs without overcrowding them.

While most Easter egg trees are designed for indoor use, some artificial varieties can be displayed outdoors if they’re made with weather-resistant materials. Always check the product details to see if outdoor use is recommended. If you’re setting up a tree outside, consider placing it in a sheltered spot to protect it from wind and rain. For indoor decorating, tabletop and potted Easter egg trees add a festive touch to dining tables, mantels, or entryways, making them a versatile choice for any space.

• Remove ornaments: Carefully take off all eggs and decorations to prevent damage.
• Disassemble if possible: If your tree comes apart, break it down into smaller pieces for easier storage.
• Wrap branches: Use tissue paper or bubble wrap to protect delicate parts and prevent tangling.
• Store in a dry place: Keep your Easter egg tree in a box or storage bin, away from moisture and direct sunlight, so it’s ready for next year’s celebrations.
