Choosing the right dock edging shape depends on your dock's design and how you use it. "P" shapes are popular for general protection, while corner bumpers help shield sharp edges. If you have heavy traffic or commercial use, consider commercial-grade profiles for extra durability. Take a look at your dock's layout and think about where boats or equipment might bump into it. Matching the edging shape to those areas can help protect both your dock and your watercraft.

Installing dock edging is usually a straightforward DIY project.

1. First, measure and cut the edging to fit your dock sections.
2. Position the edging along the dock edge, making sure it covers any exposed corners or sides.
3. Use corrosion-resistant screws or fasteners to secure the edging in place, spacing them evenly for a snug fit.

Most dock edging products are designed to work with a variety of dock materials, including wood and metal.

• For wood docks, standard screws or bolts usually work well.
• For metal docks, you may need specialized fasteners or pre-drilled holes to ensure a secure fit.

Keeping your dock edging clean is simple and helps it last longer.

• Rinse with fresh water to remove dirt and salt buildup.
• Use a mild soap and a soft brush for tougher stains.
• Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive pads, as these can damage the material.

If your dock edging gets damaged, you can usually find replacement sections or corner pieces at Walmart.

• Check the product description to see if individual parts are sold separately.
• Many dock edging systems are modular, so you can replace just the damaged section without redoing the whole dock.
