Creatine

If you're physically active — especially if you limit your intake of red meat — you may have low muscle stores of creatine, which can put you at risk for muscle diseases, rheumatoid arthritis and chronic circulatory and respiratory diseases. Creatine is used in muscle tissue for the production of phosphocreatine, an important factor in the formation of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is the source of energy for muscle contractions and many other functions.

Studies suggest that creatine may improve athletic performance, increase muscle strength and muscle endurance and improve overall health. There's also some evidence that creatine supplementation may lower cholesterol and triglycerides in people with high cholesterol.
