Keeping chips crisp is mostly about limiting air, light, heat, and crushing.

• Reseal right away: Press out extra air, fold the top tightly, and use a chip clip, or transfer to an airtight container.
• Choose a dry, cool spot: A pantry or cabinet away from the stove and sunlight can help maintain texture.
• Use hard-sided storage: Canisters or bins protect chips from getting squished better than soft bags.
• Portion as needed: Smaller snack boxes reduce how often you open the main container, which can help with freshness.

Humidity and climate can affect results, so you may need to adjust your storage spot based on your kitchen conditions.

Look for containers that limit air and protect against crushing.

• Airtight lid: Gaskets and secure latches can help reduce airflow once closed.
• Hard-sided walls: Rigid canisters or bins help prevent breakage compared to soft bags.
• Wide opening: A broad mouth lets you pour chips without forcing them through a tight opening.
• Right size: A container that’s not overly large for the amount of chips can reduce excess air space.
• Clear body: See-through designs make it easy to check quantity without opening as often.

On Walmart.com, filter by capacity and features like “airtight” to find options that fit your pantry and snacking routine.

After you open a bag, small steps can help maintain crunch without overcomplicating storage.

1. Remove extra air: Gently squeeze out air, roll the top tight, and clip it.
2. Or transfer: Pour into an airtight, hard-sided canister to limit air and protect chips.
3. Pick the right spot: Store in a cool, dry pantry away from heat and direct light.
4. Portion smartly: Use small snack boxes for lunch to avoid reopening the main container frequently.

Some kitchens are more humid than others, which can affect how long chips stay crisp. Adjust your container and storage location to what works best in your home.

Chips are bulky, so focus on volume and opening size rather than just height.

• Compare dimensions: Check your bag’s approximate height/width and match them to container dimensions on the product page.
• Think in volume: Containers on Walmart.com list capacity (cups or quarts). Full-size bags generally fit better in taller canisters, while single-serve portions fit smaller containers.
• Leave headroom: Extra space prevents crushing when opening and closing.
• Go wide: A wider mouth helps chips slide in without breaking.

Exact fit varies by brand and chip style, so when in doubt, size up slightly. You can use site filters to browse by capacity and choose pickup or delivery.

A little protection goes a long way for to-go snacks.

• Use a hard-sided container: A small rigid snack box or divided tray helps chips hold their shape.
• Don’t overfill: Fill to just below the lid so chips aren’t pressed when closed.
• Add a light cushion: A clean napkin or parchment on top can reduce shifting.
• Pack smart: Keep the container upright and place it on top of heavier items in your bag.
• Portion size: Smaller single-serve cups limit air exposure and reduce breakage on the go.

Carefully choosing container size and placement can help chips arrive closer to how they started.
