A person who makes candles is commonly known as a candlemaker or chandler. The term 'chandler' dates back to medieval times and refers to someone who crafts candles, often by hand. Today, candlemakers can be hobbyists, artisans, or professionals who use kits and supplies to create candles for home decor, gifts, or special occasions. If you're interested in starting candle making, Walmart offers a variety of kits and tools to help you get started, whether you're a beginner or looking to expand your crafting skills.

• Some candles are made with natural ingredients like soy wax or beeswax, which can be less likely to trigger sensitivities compared to traditional paraffin candles.
• Unscented candles or those with gentle, natural fragrances may be preferable for people concerned about allergies.
• It's important to check product descriptions for terms like 'non-toxic' or 'natural' and avoid candles with artificial dyes or strong synthetic scents.
• If you have specific allergies, consider consulting a medical professional before using scented products at home.

The '84 rule' in candle making refers to a guideline for calculating the amount of fragrance oil to add to your wax. It suggests that for every pound of wax (16 ounces), you can add up to 8.4% fragrance oil, which is about 1.34 ounces. This helps crafters achieve a balanced scent without overwhelming the candle or affecting its burn quality. Always check your candle making kit's instructions, as recommended ratios may vary based on wax type and fragrance strength.
