Buffing compound is designed to help smooth out surface imperfections on your car's paint, such as light scratches, swirl marks, and oxidation. When used with a buffer or by hand, it gently removes a thin layer of damaged paint, revealing a cleaner and shinier surface underneath. This process can restore gloss and improve the overall appearance of your vehicle. For best results, always follow the product instructions and consider pairing the compound with compatible pads or cloths. Results may vary based on the severity of imperfections and the type of paint finish.

Choosing the right buffing compound depends on what you want to achieve and the material you're working with.

• For cars: Look for compounds labeled for automotive use, and consider whether you need a heavy cut for deep scratches or a fine polish for light marks.
• For metals: Select a compound formulated for the specific metal, such as aluminum or stainless steel.

Yes, many buffing compounds are suitable for metal surfaces like aluminum, stainless steel, or copper. These compounds can help remove tarnish, minor scratches, and oxidation, restoring shine to metal items. Be sure to choose a compound specifically formulated for the type of metal you're working with, and use the appropriate buffing pad or wheel for the best results. Always follow safety instructions and test on a small area first to ensure compatibility with your item.

While you can apply buffing compound by hand with a soft cloth or sponge, using a buffer or polisher can make the process faster and more effective, especially for larger surfaces.

• For small touch-ups, hand application may be enough.
• For cars or boats, a dual-action polisher or rotary buffer is often recommended.

To keep your buffing compound in good condition, store it in a cool, dry place with the lid tightly closed.

• Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight, as this can cause the compound to dry out or separate.
• If the compound comes in a bar or paste, keep it in its original packaging or a sealed container to prevent contamination.
