Blanket jackets are often referred to as wearable blankets, blanket hoodies, or sherpa fleece jackets. These cozy garments combine the warmth of a blanket with the convenience of a jacket, making them perfect for lounging or staying warm on chilly days. You’ll find them in various styles, including oversized sweatshirts, ponchos, and hooded wraps. The names may vary depending on the design and materials, but they all offer comfort and versatility for adults and kids alike.

A Mexican blanket jacket is commonly known as a Baja hoodie or Baja jacket. These jackets are inspired by traditional Mexican woven blankets and feature vibrant patterns, a hood, and a relaxed fit. While the Baja hoodie is a popular term, you might also see them called Mexican ponchos or serape jackets depending on the style. They’re loved for their unique look and cozy feel, making them a favorite for casual wear and outdoor activities.

It’s possible to make a jacket from a blanket with some basic sewing skills and creativity. Many people repurpose soft blankets by cutting and stitching them into wearable shapes, adding sleeves, pockets, and a hood for extra comfort. If you’re not into DIY projects, Walmart offers a wide selection of wearable blanket jackets that deliver the same cozy experience without the hassle.
