Baking cups are handy liners designed to hold batter for cupcakes, muffins, and other small treats. They help keep your baked goods from sticking to the pan, making it easier to remove them after baking. Baking cups also make cleanup a breeze since you don’t have to scrub the pan as much. Plus, they add a decorative touch to your treats, making them perfect for parties or gifting. You’ll find them in different materials like paper, foil, and silicone, so you can pick what works best for your recipe and style.

Yes, baking cups are often called by a few different names. You might see them labeled as cupcake liners, muffin liners, or even cupcake wrappers. These terms are used interchangeably and all refer to the same product—a liner that fits into your muffin or cupcake pan to hold batter. No matter the name, they all serve the same basic purpose: making baking and cleanup easier while adding a fun or elegant look to your baked goods.

Many foil baking cups come with a thin paper liner inside the foil. It’s common to remove the paper before filling the cup with batter, but you can also leave it in place if you prefer. The paper helps separate the foil cups for easy use and can add a little extra non-stick protection. If you’re unsure, check the packaging for instructions. Either way, the foil provides structure and makes it easy to lift your treats out of the pan.

If you’re out of baking cups, there are a few alternatives you can try:

• Grease the pan: Use a little oil or non-stick spray directly in each muffin tin well.
• Parchment paper: Cut small squares and press them into the pan to create makeshift liners.
• Silicone molds: If you have silicone baking molds, they work well without liners.

These options can help you bake muffins or cupcakes without sticking, though the look and cleanup may be a bit different from using traditional baking cups.

Choosing the right size baking cup depends on your recipe and pan.

• Standard size: Great for most cupcakes and muffins.
• Mini size: Perfect for bite-sized treats or mini muffin pans.
• Jumbo size: Ideal for larger muffins or specialty desserts.
