The best laminator size depends on what you plan to laminate most often.

• Personal documents: If you're laminating standard letter-sized papers, a 9-inch laminator usually works great.
• Photos or cards: Smaller machines are perfect for these items.
• Larger projects: Look for models with wider input slots for bigger materials. Always check the device specs for compatible sheet sizes before buying.

Taking a moment to consider your main uses can help you pick a machine that's a perfect fit for your needs.

Hot and cold lamination refer to how the machine seals your materials.

• Hot lamination: Uses heat and specialized pouches. It's ideal for most documents and photos.
• Cold lamination: Relies on pressure-sensitive adhesive, so there's no heat involved. This method works well for items sensitive to high temperatures, like old photos or delicate papers.

Both methods have unique benefits, so check your laminated material's heat tolerance before deciding.

To minimize jams, start with the following tips:

• Align your sheet and laminating pouch properly before feeding them into the machine.
• Make sure you're not overloading or using sheets that are too thick.
• Look for machines offering 'never jam' features as an added safeguard.

If a jam does occur, consult the manual for safe removal instructions. Regular cleaning and careful setup help your laminator run smoothly.

Most modern laminators can handle photos and cards, but it’s important to check the thickness limits for your machine.

• Use compatible laminating pouches specifically designed for photos or cards.
• For heat-sensitive materials, consider cold lamination to avoid any risk of damage.

A quick review of your laminator’s user guide ensures you get great results without harming your items.

Laminator machines often include helpful accessories, such as:

• Laminating sheets or pouches for immediate use.
• Corner rounders to smooth sharp edges.
• Built-in cutters for trimming finished documents.

The exact included items vary by model, so check product descriptions to see what's in the box before purchasing.
