Android USB Drives(333)

Using a USB flash drive with Android can be quick and simple.

1. Pick the right drive: Choose a USB‑C or dual USB‑C/USB‑A model that mentions Android/OTG compatibility.
2. Plug in and allow access: Connect it to your phone. When prompted, tap the notification to grant file access.
3. Open your files: In the Files app, go to Browse and look for the drive under Storage devices.
4. Move or back up: Select photos, videos, or documents, then Copy or Move them to the drive.
5. Safely eject: In the Files app, tap the eject icon before unplugging to reduce the risk of data issues.

If nothing appears, try reconnecting the drive, checking for Android/OTG support in the product details, or restarting your phone.

There isn’t a single “best” drive for everyone, but these factors can help you choose:

• Connector fit: USB‑C fits most recent Android phones; dual USB‑C/USB‑A makes sharing with laptops and desktops easier.
• Speed rating: USB 3.0/3.1/3.2 drives can move files faster when your phone supports higher speeds.
• Capacity needs: 64GB suits everyday use; 128–256GB works well for larger photo/video libraries; higher capacities help with extensive 4K clips.
• OTG compatibility: Look for “OTG” or “Android‑ready” in the description.
• Design and durability: Retractable or swivel housings, metal shells, and keyring loops add convenience.
• Security or app features: Some models offer password or app‑based access control.

On Walmart.com, use filters and customer reviews to compare connector types, capacities, and speeds that fit your routine.

If your Android phone doesn’t recognize a USB drive, these steps may help:

1. Confirm compatibility: Ensure the connector matches your phone (typically USB‑C) and the drive lists Android/OTG support.
2. Reconnect firmly: Unplug and reinsert the drive; remove a thick phone case if it interferes with the port.
3. Allow permissions: Watch for a notification and grant the Files app access to the drive.
4. Check the Files app: Open Files > Browse and look for the drive under Storage devices.
5. Test the drive elsewhere: Plug it into a computer to confirm the drive works as expected.
6. Update and retry: Restart the phone and check for software updates; results vary by device and drive.

If issues persist, consider trying a different USB‑C drive or an alternate cable/adapter, if you’re using one.

Most modern Android phones use USB‑C for charging and accessories.

• Direct connection: A USB‑C flash drive labeled for Android or OTG typically plugs right in.
• More flexibility: Dual USB‑C/USB‑A drives let you move files between phones and computers without adapters.
• Not sure which you have? If your charging plug is a small, oval connector, it’s likely USB‑C.

Before buying, match the connector to your device and review the product details on Walmart.com to confirm Android/OTG compatibility.

Dual‑connector drives can be a smart pick in certain situations.

• Choose dual USB‑C/USB‑A when: You often transfer files between a USB‑C Android phone and USB‑A devices like laptops, desktops, TVs, or car stereos.
• Choose single USB‑C when: You mostly use a phone or tablet and want a smaller, simpler drive.
• Other considerations: Look at speed ratings (USB 3.x), capacities, and designs such as swivel or retractable housings for protection on the go.

On Walmart.com, you can filter by connector type to quickly compare dual versus single‑connector options and find a match for your setup.
