Choosing the right compost bin size depends on your available space and how much organic waste you plan to compost.

• Small households or those with limited yard space might prefer compact bins or countertop composters.
• Larger families or avid gardeners may benefit from bigger outdoor bins, which can handle more material.
• Consider how often you cook and the amount of yard waste you generate. If you have a garden, a larger bin can help produce more compost for your plants.

Think about your needs and available space to find a bin that fits your lifestyle.

You can add a variety of kitchen and yard waste to your compost bin.

• Greens: Fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, and grass clippings add nitrogen.
• Browns: Dry leaves, cardboard, and paper provide carbon.
• Avoid adding meat, dairy, oils, or pet waste, as these can attract pests and slow down the composting process.

Mixing greens and browns helps create a balanced compost pile. Always check your bin's instructions for any specific guidelines.

To help prevent odors, try these tips:

• Balance your greens (wet materials) and browns (dry materials) to avoid excess moisture.
• Turn or mix the compost regularly to add air and speed up decomposition.
• Cover food scraps with dry leaves or paper to reduce smells and deter pests.

Proper maintenance and regular mixing can help keep your compost bin fresh and manageable.
