Shams in bedding are decorative pillow covers designed to add style and texture to your bed. Unlike regular pillowcases, shams often feature extra details like flanges, ruffles, or unique patterns. They're typically used to cover pillows that sit on top of your bedspread, making your bedroom look more polished and inviting. You can mix and match shams to complement your comforter or quilt, creating a personalized look. While shams are mainly for decoration, they can also be used for sleeping if you prefer. Just remember, shams are all about adding that finishing touch to your bedding setup!

• Design: Pillow shams are decorative and often have features like flanges, embroidery, or ruffles, while pillowcases are usually plain and meant for everyday use.
• Purpose: Shams are used to dress up your bed and add visual interest, whereas pillowcases protect your pillows and are used for sleeping.
• Placement: Shams typically go on pillows placed in front of your sleeping pillows, making them easy to spot when you walk into the room.

Choosing shams is a great way to refresh your bedroom style without changing your entire bedding set.

Most decorative pillow shams can be washed, but it's important to check the care label first. Many shams are made from materials like cotton or microfiber, which are machine washable. For shams with special details like ruffles or embroidery, you might want to use a gentle cycle or hand wash to help preserve their look. Always use mild detergent and avoid bleach. After washing, air drying is usually best to prevent shrinking or damage. Keeping your shams clean helps maintain their appearance and keeps your bedroom feeling fresh.

• Standard: Usually fits pillows around 20" x 26".
• Queen: Designed for pillows about 20" x 30".
• King: Fits larger pillows, typically 20" x 36".
• Euro: Square shams, often 26" x 26".

When shopping, make sure to match the sham size to your pillow for the best fit. If you're unsure, check the product details or ask a store associate for help.
