Perfect and solution to DOA comments.

Great so far. I see how some folks think it is dead on arrival, but this AC adaptor actually clicks when properly inserted into laptop power port. Added an additional 8GB RAM for $23 and now it is blazing. It also has a second NVME SSD slot and a 2.5 slot for a third drive. 2.5 fits HDD or SSD. Will upgrade to a second SSD on black Friday due to savings on buying this steal on a slightly above entry-level gaming rig.

Great computer with a few cut corners

The price for the specs are great. I've had other gaming laptops before including a nitro 5 and know what to expect at this price point. At this price you're going to get plastic build unless you go for a MSI model. I've had a 3050 nitro 5 for 18 months and it's held together well without hinge problems but I never abuse the machine. The specs are great. 6 cores and a RTX 3060 will play most eSports games at 150 fps at ultra. Triple A games that push the laptop will provide a steady 80-100fps at high settings and can be higher with FSR or DLSS enabled. Let me point out that I added another stick of ram to double it to 16. These take a stick of so-dimm 3200 DDR 4 that are anywhere from $20-$50 online and it's really the first things you can/should upgrade. It shows the laptop as being able to use up to 32gb of ram but I put in 2, 32gb sticks and it was recognized in the bios and windows and seems like it's supported. PROs: Price to specs is great A open m.2 SSD and 2.5 slot and a open ram slot offer easy upgrades. Keyboard has a good feel to it and RGB is a plus for some. Cons: Battery life is low (5 hours general use like web browsing, streaming movies)but this is normal for gaming laptops) Screen is 144hz but color accuracy isn't great so if you do a lot of video editing it's better to have external display ready or you'll need to spend another $300 for a more accurate display. Overall I have it 5 stars because you won't find these specs for any lower and it does what it should as a gaming laptop. It does offer decent upgradeability and is easy to disassemble.

Best Value gaming laptop

This Acer Nitro 5 is the best value gaming laptop on the market today. Purchased for $729.99 in Oct 2022. Cheapest laptop with a RTX 3060 GPU by at least $100 when I bought it. One caveat, I upgraded the RAM with a Team Group Zeus 2x8 GB (16 total) 3200 kit $40. The AMD 5600H processor is awesome for gaming, but performs best with dual channel RAM (2 sticks). It's best to have two sticks of the same memory, but if you are on a budget you can just add another 8GB stick of 3200 DDR4 SODIMM RAM Make sure the voltage is 1.2. The Ryzen processor will not take 1.35. I also added a 1 TB NVME drive from Team Group ($58) as well in the 2nd M.2 slot. I ran the built in benchmarks for Cyberpunk and and Shadow of the Tomb Raider both before and after the upgrade. Setting were 1080p and I used DLSS in both. The screen's default refresh rate is 60 FPS, I changed it to 144 and turned on GSync. I used Nvidia's GEForce Experience to change the graphical settings. When set to optimal (high) Cyberpunk ran at 47 avg FPS before changing the Ram and 67 after (that's with DLSS and Ray Tracing!). Tomb Raider would not run the benchmark before RAM upgrade (would crash partway through) ran it at Optimized (highest settings) at 59 FPS. When settings were set to performance after RAM upgrade Cyberpunk went from 62 to 112 FPS and Tomb Raider from 63 to 122 FPS. The gameplay also looked a lot smoother and had less artifacts after the RAM upgrade. Now I will say the fans were Screaming loud when I ran these benchmarks. I was basically stress testing this system. The laptop could benefit from sitting on a cooling pad and headphones would help your ears. But this is to be expected running top AAA games on a laptop with settings turned all the way up. In any case, I was surprised that a laptop at this price point could crank out that level of performance. A few other things to note: the build quality feels solid. This is not a thin and light laptop, but a gaming laptop. It is chunky and I expected that. I like the backlit keyboard and trackpad seems to work just Fine. It is a plastic chassis, though, and is a fingerprint magnet. Doesn't bother me, but might bother others. I don't actually expect to do a lot of gaming on this, but it's good to know I can, especially if I'm traveling.
