A novelty that deserves to become a tradition!
Figgy Pudding Spam! The name alone prompts laughter, the balm of the soul. After years of idle curiosity, I was finally driven to look up "figgy pudding." Turns out "figgy" is Old Brit for candied fruit, and while Americans think "pudding" is a milk-based sweet treat, Brits think it's better bread-based: Figgy pudding is apparently something like fruitcake batter that's been steamed, not baked. Hm. As one of the few Americans willing to admit a love of (reasonably fresh) fruitcake, this sounds interesting. Much of the point of Figgy Pudding Spam being it's prima facie absurdity, it's a bit of an anticlimax to report that it's not bad, presenting mild clove with a hint of ginger beneath the "flavor" of Spam. I recommend pan-frying 1/4-inch slices in a dry skillet over medium heat to a crisp dark brown; serve hot and enjoy, laughing all the way! Ho Ho Ho!

We now know why the children singing “We wish you a Merry Christmas” wanted Figgy Pudding so much. This is not the Spam we expected at all and doesn't taste like regular Spam. We put it out at a Thanksgiving party and told people what it was. Well it went very quickly and everyone was amazed how good it was.
