Its definitely not a winter coat. Feels like its made from thick sheets. My son also says the pockets are terrible. But alas, it will work well for his purposes. He plans to wear it to aid in camouflaging himself in the woods at night during summer camp. He also plans to use it to dress up as a hobo while playing cops and robbers downtown with youth group. I think it will work well for these purposes. I keep catching hom wearing it around the house randomly.
