The PetSafe Smart Feed 2nd Generation Automatic Pet Feeder was thoughtfully designed for pet parents and their pets to bring peace of mind to mealtime. When you download the free, PetSafe Smart Feed app to your smartphone and connect the feeder to your home’s Wi-fi, you’ll be able to schedule, adjust and monitor your pet’s meals whether you’re at home or at the office. This updated smart feeder works with your Amazon Echo device so you can quickly ask Alexa to feed your pet a snack hands-free. The new, low food sensor will send a notification to your phone when the feeder is running low on kibble and when it is empty, so you can pick up more kibble on the way home. With the help of the sensor, you can use Amazon Dash Replenishment to automatically reorder your pet’s food. The Smart Feed Automatic Pet Feeder holds 24 cups of dry or semi-moist food. The unique design of the Smart Feed’s food conveyor dispenses most shapes and sizes of dry and semi-moist food while helping to prevent jams. Meals can be scheduled for up to 12 times daily in sizes from 1/8 cup to 4 cups per meal. The optional Slow Feed setting dispenses meals larger than 1/8 cup in small amounts over 15 minutes for pets who tend to eat too quickly. There is also a Feed Now option that lets you serve a meal instantly from the app or with the push of the pet-proof button on the feeder. The PetSafe Smart Feed Automatic Pet Feeder includes a stainless-steel bowl with a removable holder to prevent your pet from tipping or moving the bowl. The feeder components are top-rack dishwasher safe to make cleaning simple. feeder includes an AC power adaptor and has a backup battery option using 4 D alkaline batteries (not included). To connect your PetSafe Smart Feed Automatic Pet Feeder to your smartphone app, a 2.4GHz (802.11b/g/n) router is required. Best auto feeder; still room to improve
The mobile app is pretty slick. It would be nice if there were a few more options, and the feeder has missed a few meals, but not anything consistent or major. The hopper holds a lot of food, and it is fairly secure (our 4 cats have not found their way into it yet!) The feeding mechanism for this is unique from almost any other feeder on the market - it uses a conveyor belt, which they claim helps prevent jamming - an issue that occurred with my prior feeder. The feeder is pretty quiet. It is supposed to alert me when it runs out of food / is running low, but the app failed to notify me. Luckily because you can see through the lid, I noticed the hopper was running low before it ran out.
