Solid Base. Beautiful lamp.
The lamp is beautiful, matches perfectly to my mid century decor. The light is very directional so great when I'm on my laptop or reading on my couch. It isn't great to make the room bright but good enough if you just want minimal light in the room. The stand has a lovely brushed brass color, not too shiny which is what I wanted. The head can tilt slightly up/down/across but only like an inch.

Great looking floor lamp. It's very sturdy and heavy. Be careful unpacking it. The marble base slid out and landed on my husband's foot. He thought he might have broken it, but he didn't. Other than that mishap, it's a great lamp. I looked at a similar looking one at World Market and there was no comparison in quality. This Olivia lamp is miles above that one Get one!

Stylish and easy to assemble--and my one worry (that the on/off switch was on the base, which I planned to have behind a piece of furniture) turned out to be a non-worry: the on/off switch is on the power cord, so it's accessible no matter how you station the lamp. We have it in a room with 9 foot ceilings and it suits it perfectly.
