As a retired RN and disabled senior (MS), I have become comfortable with wearing anything that will keep me off the surgeon's table (spinal surgery), despite a multitude of degeneration of the same, I am a believer in allowing the body to heal (after diagnostics identify the issue) as a first response to treatment. This cervical collar (measure your chin to chest as size chart instructs) is one I wear when I need to maintain maximum "lift" of my C-Spine. I now have one constructed for sleep, and a waterproof silicone model for warm water resistance training at Augusta Health Wellness Center. I am firming up muscles for support, while continuing to allow the cervical spine recovery time. I am also in a wheelchair as a result of a very long MS relapse, but the use of braces to support any injury, in my opinion, is the non-surgical option. If recovery time and physical rehabilitation fail (after an extended, disciplined self-care routine), then more invasive options are next. Word to the wise... always get a second (and maybe even a third) when it involves surgery and explore all your options. At 72, and a lifetime of neurological, medically complex health conditions (not self-inflicted), surgery is my last option for everything sans any health emergency.
