This is the second set of chairs purchased for this casual dining area since it was completed. The first set (NOT from LexMod) was attractive, but a leg snapped off during dinner--so, as you can imagine, my husband never trusted them again. There was a total mixup ordering these chairs from another vendor and I wasn't at all sure we'd have them by the end of January. I decided to try the retail branch of the supplier---and I am so glad I did! It became obvious immediately that these chairs are of a much higher caliber than our previous set. The craftsmanship is expert---I LOVE the nail heads, which are the same silvery metal as all our nickel accents. On some of the other sites that carry this chair, there was some carping about the difficulty in their assembly. Because of the hidden hardware added to make them sturdy, we found it necessary to use two of us for the job. My husband first put them together, slightly tightening the lower bolts only. He made them just sturdy enough for me to sit on (on a coffee table so he didn't have to crawl around on the floor), had me situate the legs with the seat by wiggling around, then went back in (with me still seated) and retightened the lower bolts. After they were solid, I got up and we tightened the top bolts with the chair upside down. Once set on the floor, I sat and wiggled again---PERFECT! My husband says he thinks it is absolutely a two-person job. I had done an exhaustive search for the right-height seats---which is something you don't think about if you're sitting on chairs in a showroom, but if you are ordering them, you best figure out what height you want and what goes with your table. I ordered one chair that came much shorter than it was described (18"). These are 20-1/2" at the seat; anything shorter would have just been wrong! I think the presentation is stunning for our casual dining spot.
