Perfect for a wound up kid. My 5 year old boy is constantly going. Constantly. I got this to help settle him down when he lays down. So far, he likes it. I cannot comment on tears/quality as we just got and opened it. But I can try to update of anything happens. It is soft but not fuzzy/fluffy but it is comfy. Perfect weight - not going to squish them! My son likes that he felt some pressure but not so much that he couldn't move/breathe. Also, it is not too heavy for an adult to have in their lap or even draped over the shoulders while reading/resting - really helps muscles. We, his parents, now want one for ourselves each!!! But honestly, the weighted blankets are usually 10-15 lbs starting out, so I was glad to find a 5 lb one. It is small, but that's what it says it is. Exactly as described. So - If you're like me, and never tried this and aren't sure about spending big bucks, please try this one and at least see if it helps in any way. I think it will. So so so thankful we got this!
