Difficult to rate this beautiful mortar and pestle. It is wrapped and sitting under our Christmas tree. It's a gift for our son. Nonetheless, I can tell you it is made of a lovely deep gray granite, has a non-slip ring on the bottom and is very heavy. After the holidays, I can give a more detailed review.

Nice mortar and pestle

Perfect size and weight compared to my older, authentic, but heavy molcahete. Will be easier to season. Haven't used it yet, but can't wait to grind chiles for my salsa and avocados. Has a thin pad on the bottom but will use extra padding on my counters underneath to avoid scratching. Wish I would have found this years ago. Nice enough to sit on my counter when not in use. Love it.

Fresh grind your whole cloves and whole allspice with this mortar and pestle. Sift through fine mesh strainer. You want 1 1/2 tea spoons of each powder. Add 3 table spoons ground cinnamon, 2 tea spoons each ground ginger and ground nutmeg. Now you have super pumpkin spice. Follow directions on pumpkin can. You will end up on permanent pumkin pie duty!
