The yarn moves smoothly over the hook but I still have control of the yar's movement as the hook end-curve is just right so the yarn doesn't slip off. Any hook less then 6- inches long is too short for me to use the "knife" hold is uncomfortable, but works great for the "pencil" hold. The hook isn't heavy as with silicone-like material, and my hand doesn't sweat or chaff.

At first, I was concerned how small these are to grip but when I started crocheting with them, I was pleasantly surprised. The pain was gone, and they are just as easy to use as my aluminum Boye needles. They don't snag and the stitch markers, scissors, and yarn needles all in one case make things very convenient.

Excellent set, would make a great gift

I'm not an expert crocheter, but so far the hooks from this set work better than my old random hooks that had the finish worn off. The yarn I used was really textured and my old hooks kept getting stuck in the yarn. I had a much easier time with this new set. The case is really great too. Plus it comes with some yarn snips, stitch markers, and 6 plastic yarn needles. I wish the yarn needles were metal because the plastic ones feeI a little flimsy, but, so far so good, and I really bought the set for the hooks and the case -- the needles were just a bonus anyway. The hook handles are more comfortable than the old metal ones I've always used, and they are very easy to hold onto.
