Every single time in my life that I have moved into a new place I change out the shower head even if I am renting. Recently I used a shower that had a pretty narly looking grim on it and got a bacteria infection on the back of my neck where I had a shaving cut. I didn't change that one out due to it being in a friend's home, but after the infection I decided to change out the cheap dirty one with this. I didn't know what to expect. I normally get around a $20.00 shower head so if I have to replace it again I am not losing out on a ton of money. For the most part they are decent. This one is better. It was around $50 cost. I like that the hose was metal. The head is that newer plastic they use to keep bacteria from growing. Since I will only be using the shower for another month I am not too concerned with the longevity of the plastic, but it that nice plastic not that cheapo stuff. Think auto quality. I am not going to lie. I read other reviews prior to getting this one. One claimed it leaked no matter the setting. I pulled the old shower head and cleaned the pipe and threads fully with 0000 steel wool and scotch pads. I fully wrapped the pipe with the tape included that allows for threads to seal tight. I normally do 2 to 2.5 wraps for shower heads. I don't over wrap it as it can actually make the seal worse and if you don't do it enough it can leave a gap. 2 to 2.5 is perfect for most modern ones. After 30 minutes of testing the settings and fully running hot and cold through the head it did not leak. I took a 10 minute shower after and it did not leak. I suspect that review was from someone that might not have done the pipe tape properly or that unit was just defective. This one was perfect. When I move into my new place next month I will probably get another one of these, but I want the brushed nickel one. This was the only color I could get online. It looks kind of odd with a black shower head and chrome pipe and chrome knobs. Recommend. P.S. Yes this have that water saver in it. This shower is tiny so it doesn't matter, but you can remove it to gain pressure. I do that with my sink ones.
