These are probably true to size; I think I could have gone down a couple sizes (I just didn't trust the size chart). It might also have made a difference in the length, and I will hem them so they don't wear and get dirty; then they will look fine to wear out of the house - summery and almost dressy. The pockets will hold my phone in one and keys in the other. The waist elastic is very wide and comfortable, doesn't roll over. It kind of fits my wait but not snug and stretches about two sizes. The legs are really wide- my pix don't show it as well as the listing. Although the fabric is stretchy it drapes like rayon and looks like a slub linen.
