Each individual tool locks into place, and is unlocked with an "unlock" tab. The magnetic hex bit locks either into 90* or 180* positions, while all the other tools (including the knife and saws) lock into 180* positions. The multitool comes with 4 double-sided bits. The bits are a little difficult to remove from the plastic case they come in, but that's what the multitool's pliers are for! Overall a really decent multitool for the price. The holster is durable, with a strong snap and elastic to hold the hex bits.
