I really did not know what to rate this item. It is not a true or traditional "flannel" material. It is more of a heavy weight cotton. This is why I gave it a medium rating because I wanted a traditional flannel material. The material is very stiff when removed from the packaging and only loosens up a bit after a first washing and drying in the dryer. I ordered a size larger then normal in case it would shrink and so it would be easier to remove it over my head. Consequently, I do not know if it did shrink. The material is NOT scratchy or uncomfortable. Please note: according to the tag on the nightgown (I got the red one.) it says you must have the tag attached to the nightgown if you want to return it or there could be a restocking fee -- which could preclude washing/drying it before wearing it. After wearing it several days I find I do like it and enjoy wearing it. Due to the sturdiness of the fabric I think this nightgown may last a long time, only time will tell though.
