I have not made these yet. But I will soon. I had never seen YELLOW Split Peas. I can't wait to taste them.
Walmart always has great prices on Walmart's dried legumes by the pound. I buy and eat a lot of Lentils and Walmart's 4-pound bag is PERFECT. I make a ton of recipes with them. Making the dried peas and beans saves you money. The cans are great, oh yes, but when you do the math on one 16 oz bag of dried beans or peas, you come out the winner. Cook them in your pressure cooker or Instant Pot and they are done in a jiffy. Make sure you rinse them, no matter what dry bean or pea you are cooking. Split Peas, no matter their color, do not need to be soaked overnight. Just rinse and prepare your fav recipe.
Dry Beans DO NEED to be soaked overnight. Then drain the water and add them to your
Instant Pot or pressure cooker and cook for 8-15 minutes. The overnight SOAK is the best way to ensure our gut's happiness, if you know what I mean...!
Drain the soaking water, and they are ready for you to put in your cooker. Just follow your cooker's directions for the liquid you might need. Just after having your coffee in the morning. Ready for lunch, dinner, or freezing. Adding a yummy pan of corn bread with butter to eat with your peas or beans, OH YEAH, just like grandma made, when we were kids.
Buying DRY Beans or Peas and cooking them yourself is indeed a money-saving proposition. However, with the weather that is happening these days, you might wish to stock up. While these products are still on the shelves. The weather is affecting FOOD from around the world. And yes, with all of the foods we eat and drink too. This weather pattern of late has not been conducive to planting, growing, and harvesting. Destruction is more the norm right now.
I am sure I will enjoy the YELLOW SPLIT PEAS. If not, I will add to this review.
Blessings to all...`
