Sizing chart is way off

I like everything about this item, but the sizing is way off. I ordered an XL based on the sizing chart. This is my usual size. I held it up to my chest and the sides don't come close to covering my breasts. I would need a 3X. I will give it to my daughter who wears medium sizes.
