Instructions for construction were not too clear, but it wasn't difficult to figure out. I'm 65 and figured it out so others should have no problem. My girls love it. They fight over whose turn it is. They scratch on it, sleep on it, lay on it, and just thoroughly enjoy it. I give a spray of catnip every now and then. So much better than the cardboard scratchers that they tear up and leave the mess. I am so glad to not have to deal with the shredded cardboard pieces any more. It can be used with short end up and long end on floor or reversed. We prefer long end on floor as it is more stable and allows them to stretch out it to scratch. They do reach up and scratch the small section.
