USB cord does not charge headphones

headphones are great my granddaughter loves them. The cat ears lights up and the bluetooth connection was easy. The only problem is the usb cord that was in the package does not charge the headphones. I plug them up for at least 12 hrs no light to signal charging ever appeared. I put the usb cord that charges my ear buds in the block and instantly the red charging light came on and when they were fully charged the light turned blue and the headset worked great
