I have dogs that know how to open my fridge and go snacking after I go to sleep. So this gate keeps them from the kitchen. It is sturdy and elegant and allows me to enter and exit. Also allows me to let them through when I am awake and watching them. When unboxing place pedal down first. the loose poles on end with the pieces for top and bottom. The instructions are great but I found putting the loose poles in the connectors first are easier. It is ultra wide which was perfect for my dining room entry. My dogs have their own room and roam free during the night and day. As I have now a security camera I have recorded them using their paws and nose to open the refrigerator to eat snacks, passing by their dog food and stealing cheese blocks, ritz crackers, and rotisserie chicken. This gate has stopped the snackers. I just give them an extra 2 snacks before bed. auto dog food feeder in their room with filter ongoing fountain. But nothing beats stealing the Walmart lemon pepper rotisserie chicken in the fridge.Love this gate, sturdy, elegantly made and opening perfect, very safe. P.S. They have rotisserie chicken twice a week but know when extra is in the fridge, they watch me unpack groceries!
