About Cue Chalk in Pool & Billiards - Walmart.com
Cue chalk
Over time, the end of your pool cue becomes worn and smooth, increasing the risk of it slipping off the cue ball during a shot. Using cue chalk reduces miscues by creating friction. It's a good idea to apply chalk to your cue on every other shot, or just before a shot that needs plenty of spin.
The chalk is widely available in small cubes that are easy to position at the edge of the table when not in use. But you may find it more convenient to have a chalk holder to clip onto your belt. If you use a cone chalk, consider a wall-mounted chalk holder. The holder keeps the chalk out of the way during play, and it ensures both players always know exactly where it is, so there are no unnecessary delays between shots.
