Choosing the right sprinkler riser size depends on your sprinkler head and the height you need for proper coverage.

• Check the thread size on your sprinkler head and the pipe—common sizes are 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch.
• Measure the height needed to clear grass or landscaping so the spray isn’t blocked.
• Consider adjustability—some risers can be cut to length or extended with adapters.

Matching the right size helps your system work efficiently and keeps your lawn evenly watered.

Most riser extensions are designed to fit standard sprinkler heads, but it’s important to check compatibility.

• Thread type and size should match between the riser and your sprinkler head.
• Material compatibility matters—PVC, poly, and metal risers may have different uses.
• If you’re unsure, look for universal or adjustable risers that fit a range of brands and models.

Always double-check product details or bring your current parts to compare before purchasing.

Installing a sprinkler riser is a straightforward process:

1. Turn off your water supply to avoid leaks.
2. Unscrew the old riser or cap from the pipe.
3. Wrap new riser threads with plumber’s tape for a better seal.
4. Screw the new riser into place by hand—avoid overtightening.
5. Attach your sprinkler head and turn the water back on to check for leaks.

This can help improve your sprinkler’s reach and coverage, but always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for best results.

To help prevent leaks at your sprinkler riser connections:

• Use plumber’s tape on threaded joints to create a watertight seal.
• Hand-tighten connections—using tools can crack plastic risers.
• Inspect for cracks or worn threads before installation.
• Check connections after turning the water back on and tighten if needed.

Regular maintenance and careful installation can reduce the chance of leaks and keep your irrigation system running smoothly.

Many sprinkler risers, especially PVC or poly cut-off types, can be trimmed to fit your needs.

• Use a fine-tooth saw or pipe cutter for a clean cut.
• Make sure to cut straight and remove any burrs from the edge.
• Double-check the length before cutting, as you can’t add material back.

Always follow the product’s instructions, and if you’re unsure, ask a store associate for guidance to avoid damaging your irrigation setup.
