Choosing a pull-behind spreader depends on your yard size, what you plan to spread, and your towing equipment. Here are a few tips:

• Capacity: Larger lawns may benefit from higher capacity spreaders to reduce refills.
• Compatibility: Make sure the hitch fits your lawn tractor, ATV, or mower.
• Material: Look for durable materials if you plan to use it for salt or ice melt.
• Adjustability: Adjustable flow controls and spread widths can help you cover different areas efficiently.

Review product details and compare features to find the best fit for your needs.

Pull-behind spreaders are versatile tools designed for a variety of materials. You can use them to distribute:

• Grass seed for overseeding or new lawns
• Fertilizer to promote healthy growth
• Salt or ice melt for winter driveway and walkway maintenance

Always check the product manual for material compatibility and follow safety guidelines for each type of application.

Regular maintenance helps your spreader last longer and work better. Here are some steps to consider:

• Clean after each use: Rinse out any leftover material to prevent clogs or corrosion.
• Check tires: Inspect for proper inflation and wear, especially if you use it on rough terrain.
• Lubricate moving parts: Apply lubricant to axles and controls as recommended in the manual.
• Store indoors: Keeping your spreader in a dry place can help prevent rust and damage.

Many pull-behind spreaders are designed with large, durable tires to handle uneven or rough terrain. However, performance can vary based on the model and ground conditions. For best results:

• Go at a steady, moderate speed to avoid tipping or uneven spreading.
• Check that the spreader is securely attached to your towing vehicle.
• Adjust the flow rate and spread width as needed for your landscape.

Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines for safe operation on slopes or bumpy areas.

Replacement parts like tires, hoppers, and flow control components are often available for many pull-behind spreaders. You can check the product's manual or visit Walmart's website to see if specific parts are listed for your model. If you need help finding the right part, Walmart's customer service can assist with locating compatible options for your spreader.
