When looking for a highly accurate thermometer, check for features like digital readouts, fast response times, and multi-site use (oral, rectal, underarm, or forehead). Many thermometers also include fever alerts and memory recall for previous readings. For best results, follow the manufacturer's instructions and consider comparing readings with another reliable device. If you have concerns about accuracy, it's a good idea to consult a healthcare professional for guidance.

To clean a digital thermometer, first make sure it’s turned off. Use a soft cloth or cotton pad dampened with rubbing alcohol to gently wipe the probe and any surfaces that come into contact with skin. Avoid submerging the device in water or using harsh chemicals, as this can damage the electronics. Let the thermometer air dry before storing it. Always check the user manual for specific cleaning instructions for your model.

Many digital thermometers are designed for use by multiple people, but it’s important to clean the device thoroughly between uses to help prevent the spread of germs. Some models come with disposable probe covers for added hygiene. If you’re using the thermometer for both oral and rectal readings, it’s best to dedicate it to one type of use or use separate devices for each person. Always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for safe and sanitary use.

Some thermometers offer both forehead and ear measurement modes. To switch between them, look for a mode button or a switch on the device. The user manual will provide step-by-step instructions specific to your model. Make sure to use the correct probe or attachment for each mode, and always clean the device before and after use. If you’re unsure, refer to the included instructions or reach out to customer support for help.

If your thermometer displays an error message, try the following steps:

• Check that the batteries are installed correctly and have enough charge.
• Ensure the probe is clean and free from debris.
• Make sure you’re using the thermometer as directed in the manual.
• Allow the device to return to room temperature if it’s been stored in a hot or cold place.

If the error persists, consult the troubleshooting section of your user guide or contact the manufacturer’s customer service for further assistance.
