Hazelnut paste is typically made by roasting hazelnuts and then blending them until smooth. Here’s a general overview:

1. Roast hazelnuts: Roasting brings out their flavor and helps remove skins.
2. Remove skins: Rub the nuts in a towel to loosen skins, if desired.
3. Blend: Use a food processor to grind the nuts until they turn into a creamy paste. Some recipes add a touch of oil or sweetener, but pure hazelnut paste is just nuts.

For convenience, you can find ready-made hazelnut paste at Walmart in various styles and sizes.

Nutella is a popular hazelnut spread that combines hazelnuts with cocoa, sugar, and other ingredients for a sweet, chocolatey flavor. Hazelnut paste, on the other hand, is usually made from pure ground hazelnuts and has a richer, nuttier taste without added chocolate or sugar. If you’re looking for a simple nut flavor, hazelnut paste is the way to go. For a dessert-like treat, spreads with cocoa are a great option.

Hazelnut paste is super versatile in the kitchen! You can:

• Spread it on toast, pancakes, or waffles for a nutty boost.
• Mix it into smoothies or oatmeal for extra flavor.
• Bake with it—add to cookies, cakes, or brownies.
• Swirl it into ice cream or yogurt.
• Use it as a filling for pastries or chocolates.

It’s a great way to add rich, creamy texture and nutty taste to both sweet and savory recipes.

To keep hazelnut paste fresh, store it in a cool, dry place—like your pantry. After opening, it’s a good idea to seal the jar tightly. Some types may benefit from refrigeration, especially if they’re made with just nuts and no preservatives. Always check the label for storage instructions. If the paste separates, just stir it before using.
