Choosing the right softbox size depends on your shooting space and subject.

• For portraits or small products, a compact softbox offers focused, flattering light.
• Larger softboxes are great for groups or bigger scenes, providing softer, more even illumination.
• Consider your studio setup and portability needs—smaller models are easier to move and store.

Think about how much space you have and what you’ll be photographing most often to find a size that fits your workflow.

Octagon softboxes create a rounder catchlight in eyes and deliver smooth, wraparound lighting—ideal for portraits. Rectangular softboxes are versatile for both people and products, offering more control over light direction and spill.

• Octagon: softer, natural look
• Rectangle: precise, flexible placement

Pick the shape that matches your creative goals and shooting style.

Absolutely! Softboxes are popular for video because they diffuse harsh light, reducing shadows and glare.

• Look for models with adjustable color temperature to match your scene.
• Continuous LED options are ideal for video, as they stay cool and provide steady illumination.

Just make sure your softbox fits your lighting setup and is compatible with your camera or streaming equipment.

Setting up a softbox is straightforward, but safety matters.

• Always assemble on a stable surface and secure the tripod or stand.
• Check that bulbs and electrical connections are properly installed before plugging in.
• Keep cords tidy to prevent tripping.

Follow the instructions included with your kit, and never leave lights unattended while in use.

Most softbox kits use standard bulbs or LEDs, which are widely available.

• Check the bulb type and wattage listed in your kit’s manual.
• Replacement bulbs can often be found at electronics or photography stores, as well as online.

Keeping a spare on hand ensures you’re ready for your next shoot without interruption.
